"God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him." — Friedrich Nietzsche, 1882
83 years later, in 1966, Time Magazine put three words on its cover that shook America: "Is God Dead?"
It wasn’t a question of theology. It was a reflection of the times—a moment of deep uncertainty, war, and cultural upheaval. Faith, to many, seemed like a relic. Something outdated, irrelevant, or worse—something that had failed.
Fast forward almost 150 years, and the whole “God is Dead” thing has been played.
The world is unraveling. Institutions are crumbling. The pandemic shattered our illusions of control, and now, as politics continues its endlessly volatile trajectory (seriously, still? 🙄 it’s so boring), people are once again asking: Where do we go from here?
Here’s the hard truth: We don’t have the luxury of cynicism anymore. Remember, cynicism is stale, tired, out of the arc. Delusion is what’s trending.
"Skepticism is healthy. Cynicism is corrosive." — Jon Meacham
For too long, cynicism has disguised itself as intelligence. It tells us that nothing can change, that everyone is a fraud, that hope is naive. Cynicism is the fertile soil of fascism. Cynicism creates nothing. Builds nothing. Offers nothing. And his buddy is Outrage.
And we are in a moment that demands creation.
Because destruction—painful as it is—reveals what truly matters. 2020 stripped us bare. It forced us to see through the noise, the false idols, the distractions. It reminded us to focus on what’s worth keeping.
And now, we have a choice: We can complain and yell about what’s lost. Or we can build what comes next. And do it the right way this time. And not worry about that other thing that we all thought was stupid anyway.
"A faith that moves mountains is first a faith that moves our hearts." — Anonymous
So ask yourself:
🔹 What is crumbling in your life that no longer serves you? (I got chu!)
🔹 What do you feel called to create in its place?
🔹 What does the more beautiful world—the one you KNOW is possible—look like?
Faith is having the courage to devote yourself to the new.
"Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens." — J.R.R. Tolkien
The road may be dark. But we are still walking.
Now, what will you create?
